Pizza Recipe

My family LOVES pizza ... with a capital L! Not to mention that it is my favorite food. We have started making them at home. No, not english muffin pizzas, or tortilla shell pizzas... REAL pizza!

Its quick, easy, and really delicious. Its fresh and quite healthy. So here's all you need:

* Pizza Stone/Baking Stone - it makes a huge difference. Here's a trick: Preheat it in the oven for a crispy crust, or leave it at room temp for a normal soft crust.

1. Pizza dough - we buy ours fresh from two sources, Publix and Doris' Italian Market. It can be found in the refrigerated cases of the bakery section. FRESH is key. No Pillsbury here!

2.Sauce - my favorite is Don Pepino Pizza Sauce. In a can, very tasty. Ingredients: tomatoes, olive oil, salt. The sauce makes it or breaks it, choose a good one. And please, no sugar!

3. Toppings - Mozzarella, pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, onions. Add whatever you want. The fresher the better.

4. "Shake Shake" (the secret ingredient!) - Sprinkle this mix on top of a hot and bubbly pizza: Parmesan Cheese, Pepper, Oregano, Basil, Garlic Powder.

Build it:

1. Leave pizza dough in an oiled bowl on counter for at least 1 hour to rise.

2. Once risen, use fingers and fists to stretch the dough into a circle. Don't use the rolling pin. It doesn't work so well. The elastic dough will not keep its shape.

3. Preheat Oven to 425 (preheat stone for crispy crust, if you like)

4. Place dough on baking stone before adding toppings (Tip: brush edges with olive oil for a golden crust)

5. Add sauce. Leave a small rim for crust

6. Add shredded cheese

7. Add veggie or meat toppings

8. Bake for approx 15-20 min. Or until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden brown.

9. Let rest a few minutes before cutting.

10. YUMMMMMMMM!

If we had our camera, we would post a picture of our pizza. But "Flash" is gone. We miss him very much! Read more about Flash here.

The pizza sounds great. :) We just got home from vacation and I don't feel like cooking though! Another day. :) Also, I love your Disney post! You are so good at writing your posts! I was an elementary teacher before Clare. 2nd grade first, then 4th for three years. Ben was an elementary teacher as well, 1st and then 5th grade, but now he is an administrator at his school (his title is the upper school director). That's why we have a lot of vacation time. :)

Now that Flash is back, I think next time you make a pizza, you should SHOW us your finished product! =o)
