The Butterfly

Today our caterpillar emerged from its cocoon. The kids were completely mesmerized by its transformation. We had been watching it everyday, and waiting with baited breath for this day to come. Excitement filled the air!
Avery asked lots of questions."Do bees turn in to butterflies, too?" "How did it get out of the cocoon?" And Mary Hannah planned out her conversation with the "buttersly." "I know, I could say hello to the buttersly, and that's a good thing to say."
After lunch Avery decided he wanted to read a book to our new bug friend. He quickly grabbed Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and began reading. He certainly was intentional. He was sure to hold the book by the glass jar so the butterfly could see the pictures.
