Didn't See THAT Coming

We took the kids to the movies tonight. They love to go, and they are very well behaved. The popcorn and skittles keep them pretty busy!

The movie of choice tonight was UP. We went with great expectations, but knowing nothing more than a house that flies by balloons. It did not disappoint. UP was actually a touching love story that almost made me cry! Not sappy cry, but heart-wrenching cry! Its message will most certainly be fully valued by adults. But the bright colors, funny characters, and floating house will entertain the young ones.

Towards the beginning of the movie, there was a video montage set to music. Its a fast paced journey from childhood love to marriage, and beyond. I certainly did not expect what came next: The happy couple was preparing their nursery ... BAM! cut to sad faces in the doctor's office. Whoa! That was very heavy! The film continued with shots of the couple enjoying each other despite infertility, eventually growing old and gray, but still in love. The montage ends with the elderly wife in the hopsital bed, one final kiss... BAM! Cut to old man sitting alone on the steps in the front of the church surrounded by flowers. Terribly devastating!

I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT!!!!

Avery asked some questions about infertility and death. But they were short lived. The movie went on, not making a big deal about either the Dr. or the funeral. The movie continued with sweet sentiment, lots of laughs, some intense moments, and ultimately a Disney ending.

It was a great movie. But now I feel all mushy inside. I was not expecting that!
